Ahead of celebrating his 50-year career, Pedro Fernández will take his Ave Fénix Two’R 2026 to 13 cities across the United States — for the first time in partnership with Live Nation — beginning this Thursday at the YouTube Theater in Los Angeles.
The trek, which follows his 2025 Ave Fénix Tour, includes stops at major venues such as the Madison Square Garden in New York City, the Rosemont Theatre in Chicago, the Pearl Concert Theater at the Palms Casino Resort in Las Vegas, the Payne Arena in Hidalgo, Texas, and the Cal Credit Union Open Air Theatre in San Diego, where the journey will conclude on Dec. 5.
“I’m happy to be back with the U.S. audience with this wonderful production, for which we’ve worked on a special repertoire and many surprises,” the ranchera music singer and actor tells Billboard Español. “Interacting with them and bringing them my music, and above all the joy and a little piece of our Mexico, is very gratifying.”
Fernández returns to the U.S. after having performed sporadic shows during his previous tour last year, following the release of his album Te Doy La Vida in 2024, his first in six years. The name of the tour (Spanish for “Phoenix Bird”), he explains, signifies the beginning of a new chapter after spending some time away from recording.
Next year, the artist born José Martín Cuevas Cobos will celebrate half a century since his debut in music as a child, adopting his stage name from his two idols: Pedro Infante and Vicente Fernández. His career took off shortly after, at just 9 years old, when he starred in the film La Niña de la Mochila Azul and released a song and album of the same name.
Since then, he has appeared in about 25 films and several telenovelas and has released musical hits that have charted on Billboard, such as “Mi Forma de Sentir,” “Quién” and “Sin Verte” — all of which reached the top 10 on the Hot Latin Songs, Latin Airplay and Regional Mexican Airplay charts — while in 2010 his album Amarte A La Antigua spent seven weeks at No. 1 on the Top Regional Mexican Albums chart and entered the all-genre Billboard 200.
Fernández, 57, discusses his return to the U.S. stages and his upcoming anniversary.
What can fans expect from your show?
The show follows the same concept as always, but it will adapt to different venues. The setlist has a backbone of songs that have been hits in my career, along with some new music, and we have a portion open to spontaneity — meaning something the audience requests that we’ll gladly include on the spot.
Live Nation is betting on Pedro Fernández’s career. What does this mean to you?
I’m very grateful, first to the audience and also to the media because they’re our partners. But I’m also thankful to Live Nation because they’re allowing me to bring a project with a great production to the U.S. market, which has always supported me.
The tour includes very important venues. Does this excite you?
In addition to being important, some of them are very meaningful. For example, almost three years ago, I performed at the YouTube Theater with great success, and now I’m returning to kick off the tour there. I’ll be heading to Las Vegas and to the Payne Arena, where we’ll do a 360-degree format, which means we’ll transform the production into a circular setup — this excites me a lot. Doing different things is thrilling for me. I’m also returning after many years to New York, to an iconic venue like Madison Square Garden.
One of the things you’re known for is your dancing during shows. How do you prepare physically?
I thank God that I’m in good physical condition; my genetics are good, so my health is too. Physical fitness for the show must be optimal because it’s very demanding to maintain energy from start to finish. However, the most important thing is mental preparation. Staying focused and concentrated is essential, not just for the songs but also for the choreography, and discipline plays a vital role. The audience deserves to see you at your best.
In 2027, you’ll celebrate 50 years in your career. How will you mark such a special moment?
This tour is the prelude to a very important year. After discussing it with my team at Star Media Consulting and Live Nation, we’re clear that what’s coming in 2027 must be spectacular. I’m excited and motivated because this is something not everyone gets to celebrate. We want to hit all kinds of stages, from palenques to returning to [Mexico’s] Auditorio Nacional and arenas.
Will the celebration include other countries?
We’ll obviously return to the U.S. to visit the cities we’ll miss on this tour, but we’re also planning to include Latin American countries like Bolivia, Chile and Argentina. We’re even working on something for Venezuela, Uruguay and Paraguay. Additionally, we’re in talks to bring the celebration to Europe.
