México tuvo que esforzarse más de la cuenta para vencer con un resultado ajustado a una humilde Jamaica en el debut de la Copa América.
La jornada sabatina de la Copa América la finalizaron el enfrentamiento entre México y Jamaica por el Grupo B. La selección mexicana de fútbol sufrió y debió trabajar más de la cuenta para vencer al humilde seleccionado jamaicano por un resultado bastante ajustado: el marcador no pasó de la cuenta mínima para los aztecas.
La única conquista de este compromiso llegó en la última curva del partido mediante un zapatazo de Gerardo Arteaga (69’). El defensor del Monterrey se encontraba en una posición de ataque y, luego de recibir una habilitación por parte de Romo, le metió un remate fuerte al segundo palo para marcar la diferencia en el partido.
Jamaica estaba colocando la sorpresa
Un segundo tiempo que, con anterioridad al gol de los mexicanos, fueron los jamaicanos quienes estaban colocando la sorpresa en el duelo. Michail Antonio (50’) rompió la paridad con el primer gol del partido y que enmudeció el NRG Stadium de Houston. Favorablemente para los mexicanos, el gol fue anulado por posición de adelanto.
El partido no contó con muchas emociones importante en el desarrollo del partido, salvo los dos goles que se anotaron en el partido y que uno de ellos terminó por anularse. De hecho, el seleccionado jamaicano no merecía caer en este duelo, pese al favoritismo que podría tener México.
Pese a estar cayendo, Jamaica fue a la búsqueda del empate, el cual no logró conseguir. Incluso, los fanáticos aztecas que acompañaron a su selección en Houston, estaban bastante descontentos con el rendimiento que mostró el equipo, contemplando que, en el papel, estaban con la obligación de ganar.
El seleccionado que dirige el entrenador Jaime Lozano consigue sus primeros tres puntos en la Copa América y acompaña a Venezuela en las primeras posiciones. Por la diferencia de goles anotados, los aztecas quedan segundos, mientras que Jamaica queda en la última posición del Grupo B con cero unidades.
