Sosteniendo su punto de vista, el ex arquero expuso a los tres atacantes de la Universidad de Chile, a quienes los considera bastante individualistas, en la que lanzó sus dardos puntualmente al argentino Leandro Fernández ante la poca colectividad que tiene.
“Yo encuentro muy individualistas a los delanteros de la U, muy individualistas. A mí lo de Leandro Fernández lo encuentro sinceramente demasiado individualista, Guerrero quizás es un poco más colectivo y Pons es un nueve de área. Fernández me sorprende lo poco colectivo que es, pasa que ha convertido goles y ha terminado salvando su titularidad y termina siendo un jugador trascendente”, esgrimió.
Finalmente, Méndez sostuvo su pensamiento sobre el ex Independiente, pero le destacó que es un jugador que siempre está con la disposición a tope a lo que requiere cualquier momento de un partido para el equipo, la que lo considera como su gran virtud.
“Sí debo reconocer que la disposición él no la tranza nunca, siempre tiene una altísima disposición al esfuerzo y eso uno lo rescata, pero no es tan colectivo”, concluyó.
