Una milésima sepultó las aspiraciones de Yuli Verdugo de avanzar a los octavos de final en la prueba de velocidad de ciclismo de pista de París 2024.
La mexicana de 27 años tuvo que tomar la vía larga del repechaje para mantenerse con vida; sin embargo, sucumbió en los últimos metros ante Steffie van der Peet.

Qué pasó con Yuli Verdugo
La bajacaliforniana se enfrascó en una dura batalla de pedaleo ante Van der Peet, quien aguantó la presión en todo momento de Yuli Verdugo.
Dos vueltas de alarido y que mantuvo al público al borde de sus asientos al ir codo a codo en el velódromo de la capital francesa, y que tuvo un final no apto para cardíacos.
La neerlandesa asumió la punta desde un inicio, y después de que se relegara la competidora china, Shanju Bao, el boleto a los 8vos de final lo tenía que pelear con Yuli Verdugo.
Pero la ciclista mexicana de 27 años nunca pudo tomar el interior, por lo que tuvo que rodear a la neerlandesa en el último giro, y ya en la recta final, salió disparada a casi 65 km/h.
Empero, no fue suficiente, ya que después de recurrir al foto finish, se aprecia cómo Van der Peet se impone a Yuli Verdugo por una escasa milésima, y así eliminarla de París 2024.

Hay que recordar que, al ser repechaje, sólo pasaba la ganadora de la serie, pasaje que se llevó la neerlandesa por una milésima ante Yuli Verdugo.
Con esto, la mexicana concluye su participación en sus segundos olímpicos, recordando que participó en Tokio 2020 en la prueba sprint por equipos femeninos (6º), sprint individual (20º) y keirin (23º).
Ahora se marcha de París 2024 con el quinto lugar en velocidad de equipos, así como quedarse en Repechaje en keirin y velocidad individual.
