La inauguración de los Olímpicos a través del Río Sena es una imagen que pasará a la historia, y la creación del perfomance ha corrido a cargo de Thomas Jolly.
Jolly nació el 1 de febrero de 1982 en Rouen, Francia y desde joven mostró una pasión por las artes escénicas.
En 2003 ingresó a la Escuela Nacional de teatro de Francia y donde tras finalizar sus estudios fundó su propia compañía de teatro poniendo varias puestas en escena así como óperas.
Su carrera también lo ha llevado a ser profesor de varios conservatorios y escuelas nacionales, papel que ha desempeñado desde el 2011.
En 2020 fue nombrado Director del Centro Dramático Nacional
Sin embargo, Thomas Jolly también tiene otra faceta, la de comediante. Fueron justo sus diversas cualidades como maestro, director y actor que convencieron al Comité Organizador de la justa veraniega en París para hacerse cargo de la ceremonia de inauguración, nombramiento que recibió en 2022.
En una entrevista, Jolly señaló que su principal idea con su concepto de la ceremonia era jugar con la concepción que tiene el mundo de Francia.
«Lo extraordinario es que todo el mundo en Francia y en el resto del mundo tiene una idea de lo que es Francia. Y yo quiero jugar con eso, de ahí quiero partir: de romper clichés, porque los clichés vienen acompañados de otras cosas», señaló.
