La empresa Coca-Cola FEMSA enfrenta un desabasto de productos en México debido a que la demanda supera su capacidad de producción, provocando la falta de algunas de sus bebidas, principalmente en el sureste.
Lo anterior se dio a conocer a través de una llamada con analistas con Ian Craig, director general de la compañía, quien informó que en mayo de este año se rompió el récord histórico de producción mensual con 198 millones de cajas, lo cual sigue siendo insuficiente para satisfacer el consumo.

De acuerdo con Craig, sus operaciones en la República Mexicana se han visto afectada por la escasez en la cadena de suministro, por lo que la falta de disponibilidad de algunas de sus mercancías continúa alta.
«En mayo rompimos el récord histórico de producción mensual que habíamos establecido anteriormente en marzo al alcanzar 198 millones de cajas; sin embargo, como fue el caso durante el primer trimestre, la demanda que vimos continuó excediendo nuestra capacidad instalada», señaló.
Craig explicó que esta situación ha generado un impacto en su participación, especialmente en sabores, ya que cuando se tiene una producción limitada priorizan la elaboración de Coca-Cola, su producto más rentable, dejando a un lado otros menos clave.
La estrategia de Coca-Cola FEMSA
De acuerdo con el director general, esta situación de alta demanda ha impactado en su participación, la cual fue mayor especialmente en productos de otros sabores.
Informó que la compañía ha incrementado sus líneas de producción al sumar dos nuevas plantas en nuestro país, de las cuales una comenzará operaciones en el segundo semestre de este 2024.
«Agregamos una nueva línea en México durante marzo, hubo otra que fue re-ubicada e inició operaciones en junio, hay otra línea que llegará en la segunda mitad del año; también hay acciones que el equipo de la cadena de suministro está implementando para resolver esta situación», confirmó.
Agregó que para satisfacer la demanda no atendida en la región sureste del país trasladó una línea de producción a la ciudad de Villahermosa, Tabasco, la cual, ya inició a operar en el mes de junio para reforzar la capacidad en la zona.

Durante el segundo trimestre de 2023, las ganancias de Coca-Cola FEMSA aumentaron un 13.8 por ciento, alcanzando la cifra de 5 mil 608 millones de pesos.
Los ingresos también subieron un 13.1 por ciento, llegando a 69 mil 456 millones de pesos, lo cual fue motivado por el mayor volumen de ventas en México, Centroamérica y Brasil.
